Initially what had started as part of the Young Scientist Programme has become a full-fledged program of its own merit in the Chennai Corporation schools we work with. For many students, the lessons taught in their school textbooks are inaccessible to understand and learn from using traditional teaching approaches. For teachers as well, there has been a lacuna of teaching material to cater to the diverse needs of their students.

 

Our Nature and Art Based Literacy approach to the problem has helped in bridging this gap for our students and teachers. Using various activities such as nature games, songwriting and musical performances, to drama productions, storytelling sessions, clay sculpture and paper puppet making, we have been able to get students to trust themselves to cross the barriers of fear and failure they have thus far had to face in their classrooms.

Our Nature and Art Based Literacy program is currently being facilitated for middle school students of Chennai Corporation schools.
